March 6, 2024Explore Franklin Ridge with John Muir Land Trust! On this roughly 7-mile hike over moderately strenuous terrain, you will traverse through three of the five unique properties that JMLT has permanently protected along the ridge. Immerse yourself in the unique histories and ecosystems of each, as we delve into the ongoing stewardship efforts and exciting visions for connecting these landscapes in the future.
Hike Schedule:
- March 9, Franklin Ridge Hike: 8am – Noon
- March 9, Franklin Ridge Hike: 1pm – 5pm
- March 17, Franklin Ridge Hike: 8am – Noon
What to expect: The hike is moderate to difficult, with portions of the trail having steep inclines. In total, the hike is 7 miles long. We will start at the Mount Wanda Trailhead, ascend to the Almond Ranch gate, and continue on to the top of the ridge. From there, we will traverse the Kenneth Gerlack Preserve, the edge of Sky Ranch, and finally descend back through Almond Ranch and Mount Wanda. While on top of the ridge we will stop to see Barnet Ranch to the northwest.
