A dedication ceremony will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday at the site. Speakers will include Walnut Creek Mayor Cindy Silva; Lafayette Mayor Carl Anduri; Contra Costa Supervisor Gayle Uilkema; state Sen. Mark DeSaulnier, D-Concord; and Assemblywoman Nancy Skinner, D-Berkeley. Also on hand will be members of the Walnut Creek Open Space Foundation and the Secluded Valley Homeowners Association, who helped make the land buy possible. A docent-led tour will take place after the dedication.

The trust is raising additional money for an endowment to pay for ongoing maintenance of the land. Walnut Creek will assume that work, as Acalanes Ridge is adjacent to that city's 170-acre Acalanes Ridge Open Space. + Continue reading
